When you turn 15
Towards managing your finances more independently
As a 15-year-old, you can manage your finances more independently and activate banking services to take care of your money anywhere, anytime.
When you turn 15, you can open an account for your income which can include wages, a study grant or pocket money. With your guardian’s consent, you can also start using other features such as an OP user ID, bank card or ASP account, and take out a student loan.
We will help you to manage your finances
Skills in managing your finances will be important as your responsibilities increase with age. Abilities learned when young will help you to manage your finances sensibly in adult life. We will help you to manage your personal finances at all stages of your life.
You can now activate the following services free of charge:
-
An account for your own money, such as wages, a study grant or pocket money.
-
A bank card, which you can use with your account. You can use the card to pay for purchases in shops, cafés and online stores.
-
An OP user ID will help you to manage your finances anywhere, anytime. Use the ID to access online banking services, other key services such as Kela and the joint application system for schools and entrance tests, or as a handy way of buying travel and cinema tickets.
-
With OP-mobile, you can use a mobile device to manage and follow your banking matters — the easy way.
-
The op.fi service will also enable you to manage your finances on a daily basis.
-
You can start saving money for your first home with an ASP account (a home saver’s bonus interest account).
Book an appointment with your OP cooperative bank to start using our services. You will need:
-
A valid ID document or passport.
-
Both your guardians (on the other hand, you can independently open an account at an OP cooperative bank for your own income — you do not need your guardian or anyone’s consent for this).
-
If only one guardian visits the bank with you, you will need the advance consent of the second guardian to activate the services.
