Banking services for people who have moved to Finland

Do you need a Finnish bank account and online user ID for banking services?

Fill in the form below to start the banking service activation process. The information you provide will be needed when you meet our staff at a bank branch. To activate banking services with OP, you must be aged 18 or over.

If you want to become an owner-customer with an OP cooperative bank, you must pay a member cooperative contribution. As an OP owner-customer, you will get daily banking services free of monthly charges until the end of 2025. These include an account, card and online user ID for banking services. The normal charge for daily banking services is from €3 per month for owner-customers and from €5.50 per month for other customers.

Meeting at the bank branch

Once we have the required information from you, we’ll book an appointment for you at the bank branch.
There, we’ll open a Current Account for you. Depending on your situation, we’ll also activate digital services, an online user ID for banking services and a card. In addition, we can discuss your other service needs.

You can take photos of the original documents with your phone, for example. Save the photos and PDFs on your device before filling in the form.

  • A photo of your personal ID document
  • A photo of your residence permit, which must be valid for at least 3 months, or EU citizen’s certificate of right of residence

The attached documents must be in Finnish, Swedish or English. Check that the texts in the photos are easy to read. The permitted file attachment formats are PDF, JPG, JPEG and PNG. PDF documents must not include links. The maximum size of each attachment file is 4 megabytes (MB).

Sending additional information

If you have already filled in a form and we ask you to send additional information, please use the link below.

Do you already have a user ID issued by another Finnish bank?

If you already have an account and user ID with another Finnish bank, and you are an EEA citizen, you can activate banking services with OP digitally.

How do I get the documents I need?

To apply for a Finnish personal identity code, register your personal details and address with the Finnish authorities. You can register via the service locations of the Digital and Population Data Services Agency (Finnish Digital Agency), at the Finnish Immigration Service or at a local tax office.

Your personal ID document could be a foreign or Finnish passport, a Finnish ID card, or a personal ID document (issued by an EEA country, Switzerland or San Marino) which is valid as a travel document. A residence permit is not acceptable as a personal identity document for the activation of banking services. Your personal ID document must be undamaged, and you must be easily recognisable from the photo.

I can’t fill in the form. What should I do?

Book an appointment at an OP branch. Print and fill in the required forms and bring them to the meeting with you.
