The OP Art Foundation’s collection of musical instruments also includes a third cello, a John Terry from 1989. It was donated to the foundation in 2014.
The cello was built by John Terry (1951–2010), an instrument maker who was born in England but lived in the city of Florence. Terry was a member of what is known as the Cremona school.
John Terry crafted the cello in the Foundation’s possession in Cremona, Italy, based on the model of the 1706 cello made by G.B. Rogeri in Brescia. A connoisseur of methods of classical instrument making, Terry was one of the most highly-valued instrument builders of our time.
A cello is an excellent concert instrument for the young artist, combining exquisite external harmony with a strong and rich sound.
OP Art Foundation's John Terry cello is currently played by Noora Attila. The cello’s previous holder was Maria Morfin Venäläinen.
