Sanni Talvitie (b. 2003) is a violinist from Tampere who is currently living and studying in Britain. She has participated in diverse projects both as a soloist and as a part of various musical ensembles. It is important to Sanni to communicate both with her audience and with her colleagues while making music. She has been described as an intelligent and creative musician.
Sanni began her violin lessons under Silva Koskela in Tampere Conservatoire when she was six. Between 2017 and 2019, she attended Janne Malmivaara and Elina Vähälä’s Violin Academy. The turning point of Sanni’s career was getting to study in Manchester, England under the guidance of Professor Jan Repko. In 2019, she began her studies at Chetham’s School of Music as the first Finn in the school’s history. In 2021, she graduated with top grades and was accepted into, and received a scholarship for, the Royal College of Music in London.
Sanni has been an ambitious person since childhood and has participated in both national and international competitions: in 2017, she won second place in the Kaunas Sonorum violin competition in Lithuania as the contest’s youngest participant, and in 2018, Sanni was one of the winners of Tampere Filharmonia’s Young Soloist competition, which gave her the chance to perform at Tampere Hall under conductor Erkki Lasonpalo. In 2020, Sanni was one of the finalists of Chetham’s School of Music’s Concerto Competition, and in 2021, her Chan Quartet won second prize at the International Young Musician Chamber Ensemble. Sanni has also participated in numerous masterclasses in Finland, France, Britain and Italy. She is very interested in the diverse opportunities offered by classical music and has, for example, performed with an acrobat at the multi-arts performance “Pallo Hallussa” at Tampere Hall as well as conducted Chetham School’s string orchestra.
