Gizem Güllü (born in 2001) is a viola player who also has broad experience in playing the violin. Gizem has performing experience with orchestras both in Finland and internationally, and she has participated in masterclasses across Europe. She is currently studying at the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki.
Gizem Güllü began playing the violin in 2012 at the Hacettepe University Ankara State Conservatory in Turkey under Ceylan Kabakçı and Muhammedjan Turdiev. Her studies in Turkey continued up to 2019, when she also acted as concertmaster of the Hacettepe Conservatory’s Youth Symphony Orchestra.
In 2019, Gizem moved to Finland to study the violin with Alexandre Vinnitski and also began studies in music pedagogy at the Turku University of Applied Sciences. In 2021, Gizem switched her main instrument to the viola and continued studies under Harri Sippeli until 2023. In 2023, Gizem began viola studies at the Sibelius Academy, where she was taught by Remi Moingeon and Pirkko Simojoki.
Gizem Güllü has participated in numerous masterclasses under the tuition of Lars Anders Tomter, Nils Mönkemeyer, Igor Tkatchouk, Mincho Minchev, Lutsia Ibragimova, Itzhak Rashkovsky, Mario Hossen, Joanna Kurkowicz and Adilhoca Aziz, among others.
After switching to the viola, Gizem also participated in the viola competition arranged in Oulu in 2022. In 2023, she received the Istanbul Music Festival’s esteemed "Yarının kadın yıldızları" (Women stars of tomorrow) award.
