Statutory occupational health care in companies

The employer has a legal duty to arrange preventive occupational health care for all employees who in an employment or public service relationship and work in Finland. This also applies to foreign employers and private individuals with at least one employee.

Statutory occupational healthcare services can be obtained from a municipal health centre, public utility or private clinic, or from an occupational healthcare centre you establish yourself or with other employers.

Statutory occupational health care and its minimum requirements are defined by law. you can also offer your employees occupational health services that exceed the minimum requirements.

Around 80% of employees' sickness absences are caused by illnesses, which is why it is important to identify any risks to work ability as early as possible. Medical care that identifies risks to work ability comprehensively takes the impact of acute and chronic diseases on the health and work ability of employees into account.

How do the employees and the company benefit from voluntary insurance?

  • Regular monitoring of any chronic illnesses by occupational health care promotes clinical stability and helps maintain a better work ability.
  • High-quality services allow the company to monitor sickness absences and take actions to improve work ability in time.
