Beata Antikainen

Beata Antikainen, (b. 1993) began playing the cello at the Käpylä Music Institute under Anja Maja's tutelage and continued her studies at the Sibelius Junior Academy as a student of Marko Ylönen and Hannu Kiiski. She also completed her Bachelor's degree studies at the Sibelius Academy as Marko Ylönen's student. Beata completed her Master's degree studies at the Hanns Eisler School of Music in Berlin in Claudio Bohorquez's class. After her studies, she spent 2020–2022 with the Karajan Academy of the Berlin Philharmonic as a grant holder.

Since autumn 2023, Beata has served as second solo cellist for the Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra.

Beata is also an active chamber musician and performs regularly at music festivals in Finland and abroad. She has performed at festivals such as the Kuhmo Chamber Music Festival, Martha Agerich Festival, Kamarikesä Festival, ClasClas Festival in Galicia, Turku Music Festival and Lausitz Festival. As a chamber musician, she has performed at places such as the Berliner Philharmonie, the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C., the Laeiszhalle in Hamburg, and has collaborated with people such as Guy Braunstein, Patricia Kopatchinskaja and Amihai Grosz.

Beata has won awards at competitions such as the XII Turku Cello Competition, the International Anton Rubinstein Competition in Berlin, and the Peter Pirazzi University Competition in Germany.

Beata is an exceptionally talented and interesting cellist. Her musical aptitude is evident from her versatile performances, interpreting programmes sensitively, passionately and ambitiously. In the future, Beata may pursue a career as a soloist, chamber musician or orchestra musician at the highest level – or all three at the international level, if she chooses.
