This autumn, for the fifth time, OP Financial Group surveyed its owner-customers on the types of acts they would like to see from OP cooperative banks to support their local community. Owner-customers in OP Uusimaa selected support for the hobbies and the wellbeing of children and young people as well as support for guiding older people in the safe use of digital services as the most important themes. Measures to support local nature were more strongly emphasised in the Uusimaa region than in other regions.

  • Based on our owner-customers' wishes, we looked for recipients for donations that match these themes, on which the members of the Representative Assembly of OP Uusimaa then voted for their favourites," says Hanna Korhonen, Senior Vice President, Marketing and Communications at OP Uusimaa.

Based on a survey of the Representative Assembly of OP Uusimaa, OP Uusimaa has decided to distribute its donations for 2025 as follows:

  • The Mannerheim League for Child Welfare, Uusimaa district: The Ehjäksi initiative supports children and young people aged 8–20 who have experienced bullying, as well as their parents. A donation of 95,000 euros.
  • The Cancer Foundation Finland sr: the donation supports cancer research and prevention and support services for patients. A donation of 60,000 euros.
  • The Aalto University Foundation sr: The Sijoita Tulevaisuuteesi workshops, by Aalto University Junior, explore savings and sustainable and responsible investing and discuss the importance of personal finances. The workshops are aimed at secondary school students. A donation of 60,000 euros.
  • Aseman Lapset: the aim of the Walkers youth initiative is to encounter young people who have been excluded from or have fallen beyond the reach of other services and hobbies intended for young people. A donation of 55,000 euros.
  • The Finnish Red Cross, Helsinki and Uusimaa district: The LäksyHelpit initiative organises homework groups, in cooperation with schools, for students whose language skills are not sufficient for independent homework. In the groups, children also have the chance to share how they are doing and to learn friendship skills. A donation of 30,000 euros.
  • Guides and Scouts of Finland: Scout troops in Uusimaa and the Helsinki Metropolitan Area received donations for climate acts and for the development of sustainable practices. A donation of 30,000 euros.

  • Enter ICT association for seniors: In events organised by the association, seniors assist their peers in the use of digital devices and services. A donation of 10,000 euros.

All recipients of donations have been selected to ensure that the donations are allocated to socially significant issues and promote the wellbeing of residents of the Uusimaa region.

“These donations are a good example of how we can promote the success, wellbeing and safety of our operating environment, in line with our mission," Hanna Korhonen says.

In addition to the donations listed above, in 2025, OP Uusimaa will help 500 young people find employment with a donation of 250,000 euros through the Summer jobs paid for by OP campaign. The Summer jobs paid for by OP campaign has already been running for twelve years.
