OP Uusimaa OP Uusimaa offers summer jobs to 500 young people and invites associations looking for summer employees to join

Until 14 February 2025, OP Uusimaa is looking for non-profit associations which could offer a summer jobs to young people aged 15–17. In the Summer jobs paid for by OP campaign, the association hires a young person for two weeks, and OP Uusimaa donates their pay to the association.
For example, the association can hire the young person to assist at a summer event of a sports club or a village association, or in maintenance tasks or to work as a social media journalist or an assistant at a summer camp. OP cooperative bank’s support for employing one person is 500 euros. The association will handle the practical aspects of salary payment and its obligations as an employer.
The Summer jobs paid for by OP campaign offers many 15–17-year-olds their first ever summer job.
– At OP Uusimaa, we want to contribute to young people experiencing success in working life. Earning a wage in a summer job makes the value of money more tangible to the young person. Working to earn money motivates them to manage their finances. Managing one’s spending and personal finances is a key life skill because taking care of one’s personal finances is constantly growing in importance. Financial literacy provides a good foundation for adulthood, says Hanna Korhonen, Senior Vice President, Marketing and Communications at OP Uusimaa.
With the campaign, OP Uusimaa also wants to support associations operating in Uusimaa. According to Hanna Korhonen, the bank’s donation aims to help associations financially when steeply rising costs are a threat to their financial situation, and many forms of support provided to associations by society are declining. The total amount of support offered by the bank is 250,000 euros, which makes it possible to employ a total of 500 young people for the summer. OP Uusimaa will select the associations to receive support towards the end of February and will contact all applicant associations in March.
OP cooperative banks across Finland offer summer jobs to 15–17-year-olds in non-profit associations. More than 2,000 young people are employed through the campaign annually. The Summer jobs paid for by OP campaign is part of OP Financial Group's sustainability programme, and in addition to employing young people, the goal is to support local communities.
