Other insurance cover

You should insure yourself with Pohjola Health Insurance that covers personal injuries insofar as statutory insurance policies do not provide compensation. Compensation is paid primarily under statutory insurance cover, such as the scooter leasing company’s motor liability insurance. However, private electric scooters that do not go faster than 25 km/h or weigh less than 25 kg are not vehicles that require motor liability insurance, which means that their user is not protected by motor liability insurance. Health Insurance is naturally valid at other times too, instead of only when riding your own electric scooter.

In addition to Health Insurance, we recommend Pohjola Living Allowance Insurance, which will cover accidental permanent disability and accidental death, and under which we will pay a daily allowance in the event of temporary disability due to an accident. Excluding the Daily Allowance Cover, Living Allowance Insurance is also valid when participating in competitive sports and regardless of whether you get compensation under motor liability insurance.

Questions related to motor sports

The personal injuries of a driver who participates in a race or practises for a race are no longer covered by the motor liability insurance of the vehicle used. Pohjola Sports Cover is available for motor sports through different sports federations (all members of AKK and HAMU are insured with Sports Cover, and the members of Suomen Moottoriliitto and Suomen Moottorikelkkailijat can choose to take out Sports Cover). Instead of Sports Cover, you can insure yourself with Pohjola Health Insurance, which covers accidents occurring during competitive sports, or expand your existing Health Insurance so that it covers motor sports.

You can also take out Pohjola Health Insurance with the suitable extended motor sports cover for competitive sports (such as car, motorcycle or snowmobile sports, or all these together).

Are the driver’s personal injuries excluded from cover also in this case?

Motor liability insurance covers the driver’s personal injuries as usual.

Driver’s cover means that your own insurance covers injuries and disabilities also in the case that you yourself cause the accident.
